The Alamos Seleccion Malbec begins with a nose of ripe plum and blackberry notes. On the palate these characteristics are framed by hints of brown spice and black pepper. The supple mouthfeel enhances flavors of violet and berry. This wine has a full body with a deep, luscious finish.

The renowned Catena family began making Alamos in 1993. Its name is derived from the poplar trees that line the high altitude vineyards of Mendoza, Argentina (Alamos means “poplar” in Spanish) and protect the vineyards from the mountain winds.

This has a complex array of blueberry, cassis, cherry and dark-plum aromas with nicely placed, spicy oak. The palate has a supple, concentrated feel with ample dark-plum flavors and a beautifully juicy finish.

The 2016 Alamos Selección Malbec shows some more concentration and a deeper color than its siblings. It's pure Malbec from different vineyards in the Valle de Uco, a zone that saw a cool and wet season in which the vines behaved quite well. The palate reveals some grainy tannins that would welcome some food.
