This selection consists of 100% cabernet sauvignon from the FallenDown Tree Vineyard, Monterey AVA north of Paso Robles in Lockwood, CA. The wine has been aged in new medium toasted American oak barrels for 6 months and followed by 1 year in 18-month-old French oak. The depth and minerality of the wine is derived from southwest sloping, calcareous, old alluvium soils that are deep and well drained. The vineyard is laid out such that there is full sun exposure throughout the day late into the afternoon to fully ripen the fruit. Cool nights are typical in the area as the cool breeze flowing in from the Pacific Ocean through valleys that drain along the bottom of the vineyard to balance out the acidity.
