Dark, rich fruit is ripe and polished, with a delicious core of black Mission fig, macerated black currant and dark plum fruit. Alluring licorice snap, black tea and roasted mesquite notes. The long, fleshy finish lets a tobacco note take over. The Apaltagua winery was purchased by Edward Tutunjian and his family in 1990. The vineyard and winery are nestled in the foothills of the Andes Mountains in the prestigious Apalta district of the Colchagua Valley. The high altitude, granite with low clay soill, and warm days and cool nights climate, are ideal for growing high quality grapes. It is a gorgeous place that has led to the Apalta Valley being known as the "valley blessed by the hand of God". Alvaro Espinosa (the South American icon of organic viticulture) is their consultant eonologist.
