Pinot Noir

Pinot Niors are a dry red wine produced from the same grape as French burgundy.  Pinot Noir's historical origins all begin with simply Pinot. The Noir portion is referring to the color of Pinot which is black. Pinot, often considered the most exalted grape of the world, has been propagated for several centuries. Over time as plants live on and mutate, changing into unique varieties hence Pinot Noir. Thanks to DNA profiling we now know that Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir Precoce and Pinot Teinturier are all mutations of the original Pinot from 2,000 years ago.  The amazing rose petal aromas, the beautiful strawberry and cherry cola flavor, the glorious connection to the place which is instilled in Pinot Noir wines unlike any grape in the world.

Founder Herb Becker opened the Wheat Ridge store in 1961, & moved it to the current location in 1974. Herb sold the store to Alan Freis, current owner Jim Shpall's father-in-law, in 1980. In 1994, Freis talked his son-in-law into co-ownership. Since Jim Shpall's entry into the business, Applejack has spread in square footage like an amoeba.
