DC Decanter: 92 Points
A perennial value pick, Azelia™s classic Barolo is a blend of seven sites with an average vine age of 55 years. As with all the estate™s Barolo in 2022, this saw less time in wood to avoid over-concentration. Expressive and open-knit, the nose offers classic aromas of rose with violet, lemon zest and dried thyme. The lithesome, elegant palate is immediately approachable, sporting a gracious fruitiness of warm currant and red cherry. Bright acidity bounces, and all is supported by a light snap of soft, powdery tannins. A clean and zippy finish.
JS James Suckling: 92 Points
An expressive nose, with cherries, flowers and a sense of nerve. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with plenty of precision, showing a tight balance of tannins, acidity and tender, succulent fruit. Drink or hold.
