The nose is spicy and warm, with aromas of Mediterranean herbs, citrus, cherry blossoms and terra cotta, and a cooling sea breeze blowing through it all. Cherries and orange slices define the palate, but lots more herbs and soil provide balance, and acid adds a bright punchiness, even as the fruit gives warmth and comfort.

The Idda 2022 Etna Rosso shows medium color saturation with dark ruby and garnet highlights. The bouquet embraces more concentrated aromas of plump cherry and damson plum. There is a spicy hint of cinnamon, sweet spice and even a pinch of peppermint. With time, some of those purely Sicilian aromas of olive and toasted fennel seed add a little more dimension and depth to the bouquet. Idda represents a slightly riper and denser interpretation of Nerello Mascalese for near and medium-term drinking.
