Very ripe blackberries, this has inky concentration with a good sense of freshness and a graphite edge to the fruit and tannins. Dry, a little pinched for now, but should come together with some time in bottle. Long finish. Very promising, could show even better in bottle. Sixty-year-old vines grown on granite with a large proportion of whole bunch.

Quietly fragrant, with bright, zesty berry fruits. This is powerful, with denim-like tannins and firm acidity. There’s a good sense of purity, even though it’s very concentrated. It needs time, and has all it needs to wait until it blossoms. From 60-year-old vines between the villages of St-Jean-de-Muzols and Vion. In conversion to organic.

Red and black fruits, leather, dried flowers, and graphite all emerge from the 2022 Saint Joseph Terroir De Granit, a medium to full-bodied, balanced, layered, and elegant Saint Joseph. It shows the riper fruit of the vintage yet stays balanced, with solid structure. It is best enjoyed over the coming 7-8 years, if not a solid decade or more.
