Cabernet is king on Red Mountain; here it's a powerful, balanced, and varietally-correct wine of distinction. For the 2022 version we pulled high-end fruit from all five of our estate sites. Older, elegant, pyrazine-driven Cabernet blocks at Kiona Estate comprise the backbone of the blend, whereas burlier, densely concentrated, fruit-forward components from some our younger plantings complement. The resulting interplay shows Red Mountain at its finest.

This authoritative wine shows why Red Mountain has a reputation as a powerhouse Cabernet Sauvignon producer capable of going toe-to-toe with the world's best. Fine-grain tannin, pure red and dark fruit, and deep color abound. Red Mountain produces balanced Cabernet Sauvignon with impeccable geographical specificity and intrinsic appeal.

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Bottled was blended with 3% Petit Verdot, 3% Syrah, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Merlot and matured for 31 months in 21% new French oak and 5% new American oak. It has intense aromas of red and black cherries, vanilla, grilled meats, garrigue and graphite, and it becomes more detailed and expressive as it airs in the glass. The fullbodied palate features intense, floral flavors, and its oak spice is well integrated. It’s framed by powdery tannins and bright acidity and has a long, layered finish. 6,614 cases were made

A fresh red fruit scent that may trigger cherry snow cone cravings is a nice match for the wine's other aromas of hyacinth and an earthy cup of blackberry tea. This is one smooth sipping Cabernet Sauvignon that puts a silky texture together with elevated acidity and velvety tannins. The wine's flavors are a heady combination of black cherries, cedar and a meaty note similar to a steak sizzling on the grill. That would also be a fine food pairing for this wine.
