Palladino Ornato Barolo 750 ml

The Palladino 2020 Barolo Ornato shows the immediate aromatic qualities of Serralunga d'Alba with rusty nail and pencil shavings. However, this vintage also presents a slightly creamy approach that comes with a warm and sunny vintage. There is a powerful 15% alcohol content, but the wine does a good job covering it up with cherry custard and crème caramel. Production is 4,500 bottles.

A darker red/ruby color, the 2020 Barolo Ornato is warming and ripe on the nose, with notes of spiced red plums, sappy earth, pine, and balsamic. Leaning toward full-bodied, it’s broad on the palate, with expansive tannins that gain in intensity, and its generous ripe fruit keeps mostly fresh, while it also has a good finish. It would be best to drink this over the next 7-8 years, but it has a lot to offer and would do well served with osso buco and steak.

This Barolo showcases lifted, pretty aromas of high-toned red fruits like tart cherry and red currant, accompanied by delightful dried rosebud. The palate displays a tarter profile with herbal notes, supported by firm tannins. A solid Barolo balancing vibrant fruit, floral notes, and a slightly austere character. Drink 2026-2042.
