The 2024 Zinfandel Sonoma County is from 2023, the first year they put “county” on the label, with the main mix from Sonoma Valley and Alexander Valley. It’s a seductive and approachable wine with delicate new oak, pouring a youthful magenta ruby color. Fruity and inviting, it reveals a supple, clean profile, though the Petite Sirah, which the producer feels has not fully recovered from the 2022 heat, may or may not remain important to the blend in the future. There are touches of fresh apricot stone fruit, even tannins, refreshing acidity, and a pleasing, salty lift. Fruity and warming yet charming, it offers blackberries, strawberries, red fruit, mocha, and baking spice. It’s a lot of wine for the price and can drink well over the next few years.
