This selection consists of cabernet sauvignon from the Monterey AVA, north of Paso Robles in Lockwood, CA and the Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc varietals are sourced from the Lodi AVA. The wine was aged in new medium toasted American oak barrels were used for 6 months and then followed by further aging in 1 year in 18-month-old French oak. The depth and minerality of the wine is derived from southwest sloping, calcareous, old alluvium soils that are deep and well drained. The vineyard is laid out such that there is full sun exposure throughout the day late into the afternoon to fully ripen the fruit. Cool nights are typical in the area as the cool breeze flowing in from the Pacific Ocean through valleys that drain along the bottom of the block to balance out the acidity.
