Wightman Red Wine The Hedge 750 ml

The Hedge is a red "Rhône-style" blend made in one large French oak foudre. The Cinsaut comes from clay soils, while the Syrah and Carignan are from decomposed granite soils. Slight differences in winemaking, with the Cinsaut and Carignan undergoing a semi-carbonic fermentation on skins for 5 and 10 days respectively. This is more muscular than the others from Môrelig but still has a subtle tannin structure and lifted red berry fruits on the nose, carrying through to dark, meaty, imposing flavors on the palate. It lingers a long time, and is a prime partner to heavier meat dishes. Syrah • Cinsault • Carignan
