The Francesco Rinaldi & Figli 2016 Barolo shows sweet and ripe fruit with distant aromas of wild strawberry, forest berry and a hint of dried prune. The standard blending formula for this classic Barolo sees fruit from six vineyard parcels, including some from the celebrated Cannubi cru that is most strongly identified with this estate. This vintage awards some added softness and fruitiness that goes a long way to create a long and silky mouthfeel.

The 2016 Barolo is a terrific choice for readers looking for a wine that can be enoyed with minimal cellaring. Bright, floral and nicely lifted, the 2016 is decidely airy in build. There is lovely vivacity to the falvors, but my overall impression is of a relatively light Barolo that is best suited to near and medium-term drinking.
