It is a generous red wine that reflects the character of the Hurtado family’s special plot of land.To make this fruity and concentrated blend, the winemakers have developed vines that bear no more than 12 bunches of grapes per plant. Only the ripest grapes are picked, then sorted by hand at the winery. The Lien is barrel aged for 12 months in French oak.
In Chile’s native Mapuche language, lien means “silver metal”—a reference to colonial Spanish coins that were once melted to make fine jewelry, like the lizard that adorns the Maquis label.

2018 was a cooler year, and the 2018 Lien, produced with 60% Cabernet Franc, 29% Carménère and 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, is an unusual blend with high Carménère and low Cabernet Sauvignon. It's a blend decided each vintage, and the result is very peppery, with lots of freshly cracked peppercorns, herbal and floral, quite aromatic. It has a medium-bodied palate, fine, sweet tannins and a disguised 14.1% alcohol. Best after 2022.

Elegant, expressive and complex, offering a spice and gravel inlay to the floral, thyme-laced strawberry and raspberry flavors, with a trace of green peppercorn checking in on the finish as the core flavors linger around fine tannins. Cabernet Franc, Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2028.

Aromas of licorice, cumin and bay leaf are appealing on the nose of this blend made of 60% Cabernet Franc, 29% Carménère and 11% Cabernet Sauvignon. On the palate, it's fresh and slightly mineral, delivering red berries and eucalyptus. Savory notes and good acidity linger in the pleasant finish.
