Rose Wines

Rosé wines are a category of beautiful wines in variable color averaging a grayish red that is bluer and deeper than appleblossom, bois de rose, or Pompeian red.  Most famous in the southern region of France known as Provence often referred to as Provencal.  Rose winemaking produce wines whose color falls somewhere between red and white. This sort of blush pink is typically produced by simply a shorter period of maceration. Some roses are made by blending a small amount of finished red wine with a finished white wine.   Blan de Noir, Saignee, Oeil-de-Perdrix, Rosado or Rosato are other distinct types of Rose which can provide unique opportunities to explore quite a diverse range of drinking experinces and unique food pairings. Founder Herb Becker opened the Wheat Ridge store in 1961, & moved it to the current location in 1974. Herb sold the store to Alan Freis, current owner Jim Shpall's father-in-law, in 1980. In 1994, Freis talked his son-in-law into co-ownership. Since Jim Shpall's entry into the business, Applejack has spread in square footage like an amoeba.
